Wood Dale Addison Sharks Swim Team

The Swim Team is open to any age group through high school.  If you can swim one lap of the pool you can join!  The Swim Team meets for nine-week and all swimmers will participate in a number of home and away meets.  Practice workouts include instruction in stroke technique and flip turns.  Bus transportation (one way) to away meets is provided.  The Wood Dale Park District Swim Team complies with the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference regulations.  Registration is available online or at the Recreation Complex at 111 E. Foster in Wood Dale.  Refunds will not be given after June 11.

Practices will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 11:00 am, with different time slots for each age group.  State guidelines for COVID-19 will be followed.

  • Face coverings will be required when not in the pool
  • Only four swimmers will be allowed per lane
  • Social distancing will be strictly enforced in and out of the pool
  • No more than 50 swimmers will be allowed in the pool at any one time.
  • All dual meets will be virtual and will be done in the form of a time trial.  There will be no visiting teams.
  • Spectators will not be allowed at practices or meets.
  • There will be no food allowed in the facility.   Only water is allowed and each swimmer is responsible for their own water bottle.

Trial Week – June 1-4

Trial week allows swimmers to check out the swim team and determine if it something in which they would like to participate.  Swimmers must be registered to be able to participate in Trial Week.  A time trial (virtual meet) will be held at the Friday practice, June 4.  Refunds will be given no later than Wednesday, June 9.

Parents’ Club

The Wood Dale Addison Sharks Parents’ Club is an integral part of the Swim Team.  The Parents’ Club fee allows the club to provide team swimsuits, awards, and other “perks” for the swimmers.  The Parent fee has been reduced to $25 from $100 for the 2021 season.  In the past the fee has been paid separately from the program fee.  This year they are combined.

The Beach Facility Surcharge

In the 2020 season each member of the team was going to be required to purchase an annual pass for The Beach at the cost of $49.  This fee helps cover the cost of lifeguards and other staff, specifically used during swim team practices and virtual timing meets.  Annual passes are not being sold this year, but a surcharge will be added to each registration in the amount of $42.

What is the cost of participating in the Swim Team?

The fees for participation in the Swim Team are:

Program Fee                    $140  (same as last year)

Parents’ Club Fee              $  25  (decrease from $100)

Facility Surcharge             $  42 (less than the cost of the annual pass cost  of $49)

Total Cost per child:       $207

Each registrant should bring their birth certificate with them to register at the Recreation Complex.  It will be copied by front desk staff.  If registration is done online, a scanned copy may be emailed to irynac@wdparks.org

When does the team practice?

Practices, beginning, Monday, June 7, will be held at The Beach Waterpark at a timeslot between 8:00 am and 11:00 am, Monday through Friday.  A specific schedule will be provided after registration when numbers in each age group are assessed.

When does the team compete?

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all meets will be held virtually.  This means that times will be collected for each event during a practice or other designated time.  Some adult volunteers will be needed.  No spectators will be allowed at the meets.  This format is in accordance with the swim conference and is in compliance with state COVID-19 guidelines.  Face coverings and social distancing will be enforced at all times.
